when I was at primary school in melbourne we had to wear pinafores (or pinnies)
and before the term started my mother and I would visit the neighbourhood fete
to purchase hand-sewn smocks to wear over my uniform during art class.
I still remember the excitement of choosing between the various colourful and cheerful fabrics.
believe it or not this was actually in the late eighties/ early nineties
but ever since then I guess I've been in search of some sort of simple uniform
hence my appetite for collared shirts and scratchy-warm wool.
additionally I am currently attracted to anything smock-like,
functional, simple and well-made...
this shirt no. 2 by once-auckland-now berlin (sigh!) shirtmaker
sherie muijs
would be perfect... black, long and linen...
I hope she never stops making them!
