open wide, come inside...

it's that festive time of year once more!
the elam graduate show! the time to don sensible walking shoes
and make sure one is well-hydrated, caffeinated and free from art-fatigue!

some stand-out performers include:

-- blaine western with his highly-polished and museological installation
-- jack hadley with his exclusive and pastel-painted world within a container
--joel cocks' conceptual work/email.
-- and sorawit songstaya created an assured and cohesive installation including an awesome video piece

also to note:

-- larissa goodwin's folded clay works
-- there was something to yolanda hickman's cross-stitch-inspired works
-- and ngahuia harrison's film work was beautifully and thoughtfully installed
-- marissa bradley's oils on linen were divine
--glen snow's painted works were super
--and karyn taylor's installations mixed with digital projections were deftly executed and wonderful
-- I liked thelma mcgough's floor work
-- and mele uhamaka's video pieces were simple and striking
--aindriu macfehin's installation was bewildering and thought-provoking
-- threads appeared and re-appeared beautifully in works by elke finkenauer and melissa quitaleg
-- soft spot for nodar gogolashvili's monet like paintings
-- hyo-won bang's subversive drawings
--siobhan van heerdan's simple photographic portraits of young mothers were respectful and strong
--evalgeline riddiford graham's tape and cd works scattered throughout were great
