well, due to unforeseen circumstances,
that is, working most of the year in le bureau
I have not been to as many exhibitions as I would like
however here is a round-up of some special moments:
-- selina foote's pale paintings, her tuileries...
-- alicia frankovich with bodies & situations
-- michael harrison's perfect presentation venus in the tenth house
-- campbell patterson's stellar solo: so tired...
-- sriwhana spong with a purple blotter as well as actions & remains
-- zac langdon-pole reflecting with materials in nothing by itself
-- mark harvey and johannes blomqvist in i am a wee bit stumped and josh rutter's
-- as far as ceramics go, there were lauren winstone's immaculate objects
-- as well as suji park's former things
-- kushana bush brought out the splendour of the rooms
of the pah homestead with the impeccably hung gouaches all things to all men...
-- alicia frankovich and kate newby made their presence felt once more at the walters
-- there were intriguing paintings by milli jannides
-- and pale-shimmering offerings from alexi willemson
-- pioneering off-site exhibitions, luke willis thompson's 'inthisholeonthisislandwhereiam'
and fiona connor's mount gabriel, ruby and ash
-- derek cherrie's architectural wonders at te tuhi and sonya lacey's show as well
-- a world undone from nicholas mangan for its bewildering immersion and wonder
-- xin cheng collected and placed things together to create sustenance
-- yona lee's sinuous steel sculptures creeping up into the mezzanine art artspace
-- scott ponik and robert snowden's museological saul steinberg
-- with special guest john smith's the girl chewing gum (1976)
-- juliet carpenter and dan nash, their duet touch light silk screen
-- not to mention the assured offering- pure bloom, also at gloria knight
that's all for now... except for a special mention,
hopkinson cundy have a lovely new space just off great north road...
a bientot!
